Adrian Pearsall Side Table, Lamp and Tilt Back Chair, ca Late 1950s
Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011) was trained as an architect but quickly left that world for furniture design. He founded Craft Associates in the early 1950s with his brother Richard.
Known for its mass-produced pieces at a medium price range, Craft Associates became known for its daring designs: while Adrian Pearsall’s “look” began with the low, bow-front day bed, he soon established his ethos by using sculptural walnut and stunning colors and color combinations – often influenced by women’s fashions, for his pieces – often gondola sofas, tilt back chairs, free form tables.
